As manufacturers of industrial chemicals in Spain, mixtures are very important, whether homogeneous or heterogeneous. In general, in the industrial sector they have a great relevance, as they are the key to obtain good quality products as a result. We work with solid and liquid mixtures, and in this post we want to focus on the homogeneity in solid mixtures, its importance and its characteristics. But first, what exactly is a mixture?

As manufacturers of industrial chemicals in Spain, mixtures are very important, whether homogeneous or heterogeneous. In general, in the industrial sector they have a great relevance, as they are the key to obtain good quality products as a result. We work with solid and liquid mixtures, and in this post we want to focus on the homogeneity in solid mixtures, its importance and its characteristics. But first, what exactly is a mixture?

What is a mixture in the chemical industry?

In general, the concept of mixture in chemistry refers to any combination of two or more substances that do not react chemically with each other, i.e. each one of them retains its own properties. Mixtures are mainly classified into homogeneous mixtures and heterogeneous mixtures.

What are homogeneous mixtures?

A homogeneous mixture is a combination of more than one substance in a single phase, the result of which is uniform to the naked eye, i.e. the components are indistinguishable to the naked eye. To correctly identify a homogeneous mixture, we must take into account its most important characteristics:

They are uniform to the naked eye and do not allow to appreciate each of the substances that compose them. Each ingredient retains its corresponding properties.

They are in a single phase: gas, or liquid, or Bose-Einstein condensate or plasma.

They may be colloids, i.e. those consisting of a continuous phase, which is usually liquid, and a dispersed phase.

They cannot be separated by simple methods. It has to be by methods such as crystallisation, evaporation, distillation, chromatography or extraction.

Heterogeneous mixtures have the opposite characteristics.

Homogeneous mixing is one of the most important parts in the manufacture of certain types of solid products, and at Solimix, as manufacturers of chemical products in Spain, we are well aware of this. That is why we have all the necessary resources for the mixing and packaging of chemical products, both solids and liquids.
